Yes, Jerry will look at us now! Right at you! They put some type of gel in his eyes so I don't think he can see us clearly but he turns to look at you and listens and attempts to talk....his throat is probably sore and he will probably need some days to start to get his voice back but that does not keep him from trying.
I feel sooooooo relieved to see him responsive. He is in and out (right now snoring again).
Kenneth was talking to Jerry a few minutes ago. He told Jerry how Adam was up here yesterday and how Adam even tried to pray Muslim style but Kenneth said he was facing the wrong way! Jerry responded with a big smile. And he didn't even bring a carpet! Nice try Adam!
People that don't know Jerry well asked me about him all day. I love talking about him. He is just...well....JERRY! Seriously, you just have to have the Jerry experience...he is like no other and we just want him back.
Please push out your positive thoughts and energy for him to have a speedy recovery.
Dan just got here again and the nurses are checking Jerry's blood sugar. Lot's of pokes in his fingers!

Thank you so much for an update. He is such a strong person. This evening when I tried to talk to him he kind of starred at me for a long time and tried to even sit up straight as if everything was normal and wanted to listen to what I had to say.....So much like Jerry.

O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee

One of the nurses who was here when he first arrived just said a few minutes ago That he has done well over a 180 from the first day. He's squirming more and resting they want us to check in with them first when we arrive to visit and ask whether or not he can be stimulated or not with conversation and such. They feel his best bet of recovering quicker is even more rest and less stimulation during those rest times which are coming and going as they will. So just be aware we are his family here but we can't push to much so we can remain able to see him, also just a reminder, go easy on the questions with the nurses myself, Sean, and Jason got an ear full as it were about that. We all feel like we should get some Answers or more definitive updates, but do it sparingly and wisely. I'll be leaving here in a bit, we are no longer permitted to stay over and have been really pressed to keep it at 1 person in the room around this time. I'm praying for him to get out of here fully recovered ASAP! You all have a good night and keep praying. Shalom!

Jerry is attempting to talk to us but his voice is gruff and he still has a small tube in him. He clearly said several times, "I see you, I see you" to make sure we could understand. The nurse also said that he could tell her the year today. She also said that today he has turned 180 degrees from when he was admitted. This is very positive coming from an ICU nurse with years of experience with very sick folks. I made sure to thank her for taking care of our friend.
All news about Jerry is good and he is showing steady progress.
The charge nurse is adamant that we follow the rules. Only two at a time in the room. They have become very guarded with medical information and indicated the doctors and staff are communicating updates to the sister-in-law in California. I have asked Dan Boron if he could reach out to them and see if they will relay information to him or see if they can get a release for Dan to be able to get information from the hospital staff directly.
The good news is that Jerry is trying to talk to us all and soon he will tell how his days are going himself.
Please thank the staff for caring for our friend.

Thank you for the update Kenneth.
Guess it's a good thing that I just stay shut and sit quietly. Unless someone else comes in :-P
As far as the Q & A's go, I think a simple, "How's everything look?" would be easier for them.

I just read what said and let me rephrase that.
I think a simple "how does everything look?" should be easy enough for them after they review him over. It I guess we'll just wait until they want to update us. I don't know, guess I'm a bit confused. Do they think that we are digging for too much information and it may violate patient privacy rules?
It feels awful when you would like to know exactly how to someone who is like a brother to us all, a mentor to some and a father figure for those he touched their hearts in that tough but caring way to motivate and make them surpass their best; on how much on his well being he is at. But then again, we have to remember were our boundaries are at.
Hope that Jerry sleeps well and peaceful tonight.
May Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John be with him standing guard on his four corners.

Friday 5:45am
Jerry had very good rest through out the night. He is resting at present. He gets stimulated even by the presence of people around as now he kind of wakes up and talks. Nurses have specific way of talking to patient. Only 1 person is allowed in the room and when he is sleeping it is better to stay out in lobby. I am sitting out in lobby right now as he is resting. Nurse came and asked me few questions about him and what he was talking about. Jerry said somethig about the church he goes to. She is trying to collect information to see how his brain is functioning(past/present I guess). His condition is stable at present. No further questions asked. They are now in touch with his family.
...very appreciative of all who came by to see him and everyone praying for Jerry's quick recovery.

Okay I forwarded the information. They are keeping note of what Jerry talks about to check his awareness. She told me I can go see him and talk softly and see how he responds. Jerry is clam and looks relaxed. No tubes, no masks. I do not want to disturb him as he is sleeping. They have to maintain delicate balance of day and night and number of people he interacts with. It is important that he interacts with friends but ask nurse for it's right time. We do not want Jerry to get overstimulated.

Who is going on Saturday and/or Sunday? I want to go see Jerry, but I don't want to intrude if there are too many people there. What is the best time to go?
