Jerry is truly blessed with good friends that care for him. With all the good wishes and prayers headed his way, he will surely have a rapid recovery.
I visited Jerry on Friday afternoon and he would frequently open his eyes and try to respond when someone talked to him. I'm sure his throat and mouth was dry and raw from the breathing tube. I'm glad they removed it. I think he is understanding what we are saying. Manisha asked Jerry to turn his head to the left to see John Morgan and he did so.
Gabriel, Manisha, Cat especially and others are spending many hours with Jerry talking to the Doctors and Nurses about his care and as appropriate, are letting him rest or gently stimulating him with words of comfort and support.

Nurse gave me permission to talk. He asked me about how he got to hospital. For how long has been here and what do doctors say about his condition. He also asked if his sister and family in California know about this or not. I told him who all visited also friends from church. He told me why are they not giving him any food?. I explained him situation. He felt much relaxed. I told him to sleep....but he would not.
I think if he takes good rest for today. He would be much better tomorrow.

Is there any indication of when they will allow him food? I wanted to bring him some homemade chicken broth. Making it at home is so much better. I am also a diabetic so I well know how to cook appropriately.

I'm glad that Jerry is doing much better and can communicate.
I want to go see Jerry but I have a lot of things that must be done. Hopefully I get to have some time to go tomorrow.
I won't shave so I'll be scruffy like Jerry. Then the staff will really think that we are brothers.

For all those who plan to visit.
Wait for Jerry to wake up and see you.
Do not try to wake him up (no tickling). He gets little fuzzy if he cannot communicate well due to dryness in his throat.
He really wants to talk and see people. May be cutting the conversation short would help...unless if he wants to talk.
Day staff is very friendly. During evening time they want to keep it low and quite. Only 1 person allowed in room during night time.
To all my Cisco folks...please remember Jerry is in Hamon-244 and not T-244. We want to see him back soon in T-244 right?. Ahh!! Somehow that number stayed with him even off campus(I remember Deborah pointed out very first day). May be that can be small bit of a joke to make him smile.

Yes please be there. Adam was there when I left at 4:00pm. I wanted to be there but had to leave for some time. I will be back again there if needed. We do not want it to be too crowded. Please coordinate with others and manage the visit time. Strictly only 2 visitors allowed.
I also wanted to let you know that Jerry has been talking for quite some time. He is able to communicate nicely to us as well as nurses around. But not 100% clear. Now he know that he is in hospital.
Since he has been talking long. Please tell him to rest. He said he wants to talk. But, please check with the nurse before you talk to him. Jerry is getting better. Jerry recognized George Driscoll, David Evans and Rod Morehead. He also spoke with them.
Sean I am pretty sure your jokes would bring big smile on Jerry's face.
Also everyone please make sure he gets enough rest time. Jerry would not rest... We have to tell him to rest.

Saturday 6:30 am
Jerry's sleep was interrupted many times last night he had trouble breathing. He is sleeping right now. I will leave at 11:00 am and be back later. If anyone plans to visit please come at around 11:00 am so that he has someone by his side. He likes people coming and visiting him.
He remembers everyone who visited yesterday.

Last update was from early morning. Right now he is able to breath well without tubes on his own.
